| After three years of research in co-operation with TNO in Delft, the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Institute of Textiltechnology and an innovation bureau, both in Enschede, namely to start to produce a fleece that can be sold to the undercarpet, furniture and mattress industries. In the production process, use is made of a thermoplastic binding-agent that has a fireretarding property. |

| With the manufacturing, use can be made of various fibres such as the synthetic raw materials polyester, nylon, acryl and natural raw materials cotton, wool, viscose, hemp and jute, as well as mixtures of these. The most commonly used raw materials for the fleeces are polyester, arcryl and cotton. |

| There is also a possibility to produce a laminate with the fire resistant viscose-silica fibre VISIL ® developed by Kemira Fibres, the Finnisch fibre producer. Frankenhuis has applied for patent of this production process. The maximum working width is 230 cm and the thickness variation will be 0,3 up to 15 cm. The possibillity exists of producing a bi-component wich means a hard underlayer and a softer, comfortable top layer possibly from other fibres. The production process is constructed with purpose of working in a quick, flexible way to meet all possible dimensions such as thickness, composition of raw materials, elasticity and fire-resistance. These specifications are put together, step by step, together width the customer (custom made). An advantage of teh fire resistant binding agent is that this issues a contribution to an eminent product, wichis completely able to be recycled and by possible burning develops no poisonous gases and releases little smoke. A second component of the fleece, a fire resistant viscose-silica fibre VISIL ®, can be put in. VISIL ® is produced using a modified viscose process. The appearance and the most important qualifications are equal to those of the normal viscose fibres with, as addition, a high fire resistance, wich is obtained by an altered chemical composition. Some examples of International requirements to wich teh viscosesillicate VISIL ® satisfies:
Dermatologic tests have proved that the viscosesilica fibre VISIL ® causes no skin irritations or allergies. |
